Selleys Kwik Strip is a rapid action solvent-based paint and varnish remover. It is in a heavily bodied form for easy application on vertical surfaces.
Selleys Kwik Strip Smart paint and varnish stripper has been specially developed to be the safer choice for interior use. This product will penetrate through multiple layers in one application for fast and effective stripping.

Use in a well ventilated area. Avoid skin and eye contact. Wear protective gloves and glasses.
- Use a brush or paint scraper to apply a 1-2mm layer of paint stripper to the coating. Take care on vertical or overhanging surfaces as thick layers may drip.
- Leave the paint stripper on until the coating has softened sufficiently. Stripping times can vary according to number of paint layers, age and type. As a guide, water based paints begin to be affected after 15-20 minutes, and 60 minutes or longer for oil based and polyurethane coating.
- Scrape off coating with slight pressure, taking care not to dig into surface below.
- If paint remains after scraping, apply a second coat of paint stripper.
- Scrape along the grain for timber surfaces. A scourer can be used to remove ingrained paint.
Limitations:
- Will damage plastic, vinyl, Masonite and rubber surfaces.
- Care must be taken on plasterboard and other highly porous surfaces as softening or penetration of the surface can occur.
- Ineffective on Kalsomine, penetrating timber stains and some 2-pack polyurethane coatings.
- Plastic scrapers are better than metal ones for removing softened paint.
- A scourer can be used to remove ingrained paint. Scrape along the grain for timber surfaces.
- Wipe the surface clean with a wet rag followed by a solution of Selleys Sugar Soap.
- Do not use excessive water.
- On fine timber where there is a danger of swelling the grain, use methylated spirits.
- Allow surfaces to completely dry before re-coating.
- Clean tools in warm water.
