Dining Room Renovation

Restore dining room chairs

If your dining room chairs are looking tired and worn, it might be time to consider some repair work and a new coat of paint. Wobbly chair legs or loose arms can be easily fixed with products from the Selleys adhesives range, and then all you need is a lick of paint.

Easy as

  1. Repair broken chair arms, backs or legs using products from the Selleys adhesives range
  2. Clean and sand back the furniture surface
  3. Apply primer
  4. Apply two coats of paint
  5. Sit back and relax

Detailed instructions

  1. Identify any creaks, scratches or other damage that needs to be repaired and select the appropriate adhesive or filler for the job.
  2. Clean all surfaces of the chair using Selleys Liquid Sugar Soap. If the chair surface is made from a non-porous material such as metal, clean the surface with mineral turpentine and then again with methylated spirits.
  3. If there is old, difficult to remove residue such as old paint, we recommend using paint stripper such as Selleys Kwik Strip Smart. Ensure the surface is dry before applying the product
  4. Pour a small amount of primer into a paint tray, and apply using a combination of your roller and brush to coat the chair evenly in a layer of primer.
  5. Allow the primer to dry completely.
  6. Use a fresh roller to coat the rest of the chair in your paint. Wait until the first coat is dry, then apply a second coat of paint.
  7. Depending on how uneven your surface is, you might want to apply one more coat of paint and leave to dry.
  8. Paint your chairs in contrasting colours for a fun ensemble, or stick to a single colour to create a striking monotone look.
  9. Invite your friends and family over and enjoy a meal at your revamped table!
